2Student Grade Appeals — Faculty's RoleDraft

When a student appeals a grade, the instructor of record is typically the first point of contact and must respond with the grading rationale (rubric, criteria applied) within 5 business days of the Registrar's request.

  • Provide the graded work, rubric, and grading rationale on request.
  • Do not change a grade informally outside the official grade-change process once an appeal has been filed — see Grading & Assessment Standards for the official change-of-grade procedure.
  • Cooperate with the department chair or academic appeals committee's review.
